Hikers shake off the winter blues to take on Dundee ‘s Mpati Hill

Plans are to upgrade the hiking trial up the landmark hill overlooking Dundee and Glencoe.

It was an enthusiastic group of hikers (of various ages) who gathered at McPhail Park earlier this month to take part in Zulu Time’s fourth annual ‘Our Dundee, Our Mpati Hike’.

The day started with a prayer before the hikers were put through their warm-up paces and were welcomed by organiser Toy Mtshali of Zulu Time. Zulu Time arranges regular hikes throughout the area in a bid to encourage locals to embrace their environment while participating in physical exercise. “June is Youth Month, so it warmed our hearts to witness the youth, ‘indlu yamandla’, embracing physical activity and nature conservation.
“Thank you to everyone who joined us!” Mtshali said.

Zulu Time has also assisted in clearing the trail up Mpati, to make it more accessible to those keen to tackle the stiff walk to the summit.

On the way to the top of Mpati.
