Dundee fire personnel rush to extinguish blaze at Eskom power station

The tinder dry grass that caught on fire led to the blaze sweeping towards the Eskom property where the logs are kept.

The fire brigade was called to the Eskom power station, Forestdale, this afternoon to extinguish a blaze in the property after a pile of logs caught on fire.

There were fears that the fire would damage the cabling at the power station.

The Fire Department is on the scene.

Black smoke billowed up over the area but fire personnel were able to put out the flames.

It is not clear as to how the fire started but some witnesses claimed that vagrants had attempted to set the nearby veld alight which led to the blaze running out of control.
