Dundee SAPS continue to wage war on unlicensed firearms and drugs

The operations are part of a national intervention to root out crime in the greater Umzinyathi area.

Arrests were made in the district over the weekend; with illegal firearms, ammunition and dagga seized.
One of the suspects, who was apprehended for dealing in dagga, was also charged for not being a documented foreign national.
Police spokesperson Constable Siyabonga Nkwanyana said this is part of high-density operations in the area.
Four suspects, aged between 19 and 45 years old, were arrested for the possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition by National Intervention Operation Deployment members, together with Msinga and Nhlanhleni POC members.
The men were stopped at a roadblock and upon searching their vehicle, they were found to be in possession of an unlicensed pistol with ammunition.
In another incident, Msinga POC members – together with National Intervention Operation Deployment members – arrested two men found in possession of unlicensed pistols with ammunition while conducting ‘stop and search’ patrols in the Emachunwini area.
A foreign national was arrested in Sibongile, Dundee, on Saturday after information was received that he was dealing in dagga.
Police swooped on a home and found a 22-year-old in possession of 79 small bags of dagga.
He also failed to produce the necessary documentation for being in South Africa and was further charged under the Immigration Act.
All the suspects will appear in the Msinga and Dundee magistrate’s courts.
