Pet poisonings put Dundee dog owners on alert

Incidents of dog poison's are usually followed by a burglary.

Several cases of dog poisoning have been reported in the Berea area.
In one incident, a dog died suddenly after showing no previous signs of sickness. The owners believe that their pet may have consumed meat laced with Two-Step – a rat poison that is easily available from informal traders near the taxi rank.
There was also a case in another area, and many fear that this is done to allow thieves to break in without any distractions.
An upper Victoria Street resident complained of copper piping being removed from his house on Sunday afternoon, while a Tandy Street woman said thieves stole a lawn mower from her property before sunrise on Monday.
Security officials responded and managed to find a suspect, but he evaded arrest.
A lack of street lighting in the area allegedly aided his getaway.
Pet owners are urged to be vigilant and to ensure that their pets do not consume food thrown over the fence by strangers.
