Dundee Hindu Temple to mark Ramayaan Week

The Dundee Hindu Temple will be observing Ramayan Week from Tuesday, April 9, to Wednesday, April 17. Daily prayer services will be held from 6pm to 7.30pm

Ram – Naam is the essence of the four vedas. No power on earth can stand against His name. Ram is your friend, guide, saviour and Guru. It is He who will be with you at all times and grant you peace and solace when you are distressed. The Dundee Hindu Temple will be observing Ramayan Week from Tuesday, April 9, to Wednesday, April 17. Daily prayer services will be held from 6pm to 7.30pm.
The Ramayan will be read, and bhajans and kirtans will be rendered. The Tamil New Year will be celebrated on Sunday, April 14. The prayer service will commence from 6pm onwards, in conjunction with the Ramayan Week service. On Wednesday, April 17, Ram Naumee will be celebrated from 9.30am, commencing with Ganesh Pooja, followed by Hawan and the offering of flower petals for the 1008 names of Lord Vishnu and concluding with aarthi at noon.
Shri Hanuman Jayanthi and Chitra Paruvam kavady
The Dundee Hindu Temple will celebrate Hanuman Jayanthi with a Shri Hanuman Jundha prayer that will commence at 6am on April 23. The Hanuman Chalisa will be recited 11 times. Kirtans and bhajans will be rendered, concluding with Hawan and Aarthi.
Devotees and well-wishers may contact Guru Umeshvaran if they wish to offer/sponsor parsadh.
Chitrai Paruvum is the first full moon of the Tamil New Year. A full moon is considered auspicious in many religions because of its effects on the attitude of people. A full moon is said to promote creativity and positive sentiments. Sentiments are said to ride on higher waves of consciousness, leading to an abundance of positive energy.
The Chitra Paruvam Kavady is conducted on a smaller scale than the Thaipoosam Kavady, but with the same significance. Praying to Lord Muruga on this auspicious day is said to have special benefits.
Lord Muruga is the destroyer of sickness and negativity.
Please join us at the Dundee Hindu Temple to observe Chitra Paruvam Kavady at 5.30pm and also on Tuesday, April 23.
