Protest action sees vehicles stoned on N11
Motorists should avoid this section of theN11.
The N11 is reportedly closed this morning, Monday, March 4, between Fort Mistake and the Elandslaagte turn-off following protest action in the truck stop area.
Tyres have been set alight to block the road and motorists have said protesters are throwing stones at vehicles in the vicinity of the old Platberg Colliery.
Motorists are urged to use alternative routes. Visibility has also been impacted by thick mist in the area.
It is unclear what has sparked the latest action. Two weeks ago there was a similar protest on the N11.
There were also protests on the R33, north towards Vryheid, and south towards Greytown, over the past three weeks.
These were both service delivery-related.
