Under fire Endumeni municipality wins KZN Cogta awards

Despite current financial struggles, Endumeni Municipality walked away with two silver awards at the prestigious 2024 Municipal Service Excellence Awards 2024, hosted by Co-operative Governance & Traditional Affairs MEC Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi.
Mayor Siyabonga Ndlovu said the remarkable achievement of Endumeni Municipality is a credit to the officials who ‘worked tirelessly and secured the two silver awards in such a tight competition’.

Endumeni was awarded the following accolades:
· Silver Award in Best Spatial Development Programme; and
· Silver Award in Best Land Use Management and Public Awareness Programmes.

All 54 KZN municipalities vied for top honours in 17 categories that focused on various municipal programmes, including financial management, sustainable electricity projects, Expanded Public Works Programmes, cleanliness, functional waste management, clean audit, and disaster response.

Mayor Ndlovu, Municipal Manager S Ntombela and the Endumeni council said they applaud the employees for their exceptional hard work and dedication that contributed to this achievement.
“These awards highlight our municipality’s commitment to strategic planning and sustainable development.

“We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the KZN Department of Co-operative Governance & Traditional Affairs for organising these awards and recognising municipalities’ efforts to enhance the lives of our communities.”
