Blood donors rewarded for their selfless generosity

The unselfish donors were awarded by the SA Blood Services.

The annual South African National Blood Service’s (SANBS) ‘Donor for Life’ awards were held at The Shed on Saturday afternoon.
Members of the public were awarded gifts from the SANBS as a token of appreciation for saving people’s lives whenever blood transfusions are needed.
Shavani Sewpaul, control manager for SANBS Northern KZN, welcomed all the guests and thanked the community for their contributions to saving lives.
Michelle Apperley from the support group also thanked all donors who have donated 50 units or more and said that NKZN is one of the top groups in KZN when it comes to supporting the blood bank services.
Special awards were presented to donors who have donated 150 or more units in their lives. One of these special awards was given to Robbie Fitzpatrick for donating an amazing 225 units since his first pint in 1977.
