Cellphone thief nabbed in Dundee’s CBD

Criminals are lurking in Dundee's central town area and usually 'hit' in the late afternoons.

SAPS, security officials and others combined to swiftly arrest a suspect after a woman was robbed of her cellphone late yesterday afternoon in Dundee’s central business district.

The thief grabbed the woman’s cellphone near the former Royal Country Inn and fled down Boundary Road where he was apprehended.

The man was arrested by SAPS who were on the scene.

SAPS have again warned pedestrians to be vigilant while walking in town and to ensure that they do not hold their cellphones but rather conceal these in a pocket.

The Tatham Street bridge near Dundee High School is also a hotspot for muggings. Several high school children have been robbed of their cellphones and money in recent months.
