Dundee Rotarians to host swim-a-thon to help fight polio

You can cool off, have fun and raise money for the fight against polio.

You can cool off in the Dundee High School swimming pool on Friday afternoon without a tad of guilt…

The local Rotarians will host their annual Swim-A-Thon from 1pm to 5pm on January 27 with all funds going towards the club’s ongoing effort to raise money to fight polio.

The entrance fee is just R10 but an adult should accompany all children.

The Dundee Rotary Club has long supported this initiative and is committed to raising funds through projects to assist in the eradication of the dreaded disease.
“Polio is preventable through vaccines and wild poliovirus is endemic in only two countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Although female vaccinators are critical to building relationships with mothers and reaching children in these areas, they sometimes can face harassment or even attacks.”

In 2021, about 25 million children went without critical immunizations.
“The world has beaten back this disease significantly, but we must redouble efforts,” the Rotary Club said.
