Endumeni Mayor joins MEC, Councillors at roadblock checks

A concerted effort was made to keep motorists safe over the holiday break.

Numerous roadblocks were held during the festive season by the local Traffic Department, RTI and SAPS.
Both light and heavy vehicles were checked to see if they were roadworthy.
In addition, motorists were asked to produce their driver’s licences.

Mayor Ndlovu, councillors from Umzinyathi District Municipality, management from various departments, and MEC for Human Settlements & Public Works KK Nkosi led a roadblock in Karel Landman Street.
This initiative aimed to create awareness and encourage drivers to be cautious on the roads during the festive season; avoid drinking and driving; and to obey road rules and traffic signs.

Local Traffic Chief Alfred Nzimande said that the municipality bylaws will be implemented in the new year, and law enforcement officers and municipal officials will attend to all complaints received by the community.
Complaints can be reported to the control centre, 24 hours a day, on 034 212 2222.
