One dead, another injured after high-speed crash

Witnesses claimed two vehicles were travelling at a high speed when the accident occurred.

One man died this afternoon, January 11, after he was flung out of a vehicle that crashed while travelling at a high speed near the corner of Victoria and Hosking Streets opposite the Dundee airfield.

A passenger sustained injuries and is being treated by paramedics on the scene.

The driver appeared to have emerged unscathed from the wrecked car that was wrapped around a tree.

The car’s boot was ripped off in the impact and landed on a tree branch.

The body of the passenger who died was found in the garden of the adjoining property.   While details of the crash remain sketchy witnesses maintained that two vehicles were travelling at a high speed from the Wasbank side of Victoria Street, towards Dundee, when the crash occurred.

SAPS and traffic officials are on the scene.

The car’s boot landed in a tree.
