SA Weather service issues severe weather warning for Dundee district

Local residents have gotten used to 'strange weather' following on from last week's snow falls and ice cold spell.

The Dundee district is one of the areas in the north of KZN where the SA Weather Services has warned of being hit by severe thunderstorms l today.

The South African Weather Service has issued a Level 5 alert for severe thunderstorms expected on Tuesday from 10:00 am until 23:00. Widespread showers and thundershowers are anticipated over most parts of the province. According to SAWS, severe thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied by heavy downpours, leading to flooding in some areas.

Municipalities to be impacted include Abaqulusi, Alfred Duma, Ladysmith, Dannhauser, eDumbe, eMadlangeni, Endumeni, Msinga, Mthonjaneni, Newcastle, Nkandla, Nongoma, Nquthu, Ulundi, and uPhongolo Local Municipality.

The department has activated all disaster management teams in the mentioned municipalities and a joint operation cluster that involves all stakeholders with whom we collaborate on disaster response.

The Endumeni disaster management team is one of those on stand-by for all eventualities.
