Dundee murder accused applies for bail after being accused of brutally stabbing to death a love rival

Both the victim and the accused were writing their matric finals at the time of the murder.

Matric student, Mbuyiseni Nduduzo Khumalo (20) of Dlamini Village in Sibongile, is appearing in the Dundee Magistrate’s Court after he was charged with the brutal stabbing to death of another man.

Nduduzo Mabuya was stabbed to death in Dlamini Village on October 28 following an apparent quarrel over a woman. He was arrested shortly afterward.

He has applied for bail and is appearing before Magistrate Sam Mpungose and is being represented by his Legal Aid attorney, Suaifah Hoosen. Initially, Khumalo hesitated to take the oath but later did when warned of the consequences.

He told the Court that he should be given bail as he has no previous convictions and is currently writing his matric exams.

Prosecutor Mphakamiseni Mdlalose told the accused that you have already missed two language papers and his chances of passing his matric year were very slim.
“You were not preparing for your exams because if you were, you would not be in the stand for a murder case and you would not have been arrested, you would have been home studying”, he said.

The application is continuing.
