Women’s month is wrapped up with an event to remember

It was an afternoon where local ladies could network, relax and enjoy great entertainment and food

Women’s Month concluded with a bang on Saturday when the Dundee Durga Matha Committee held their Women’s Day ‘All White Party’ at Majuba College.
Local musician Lucky Mathambo had everyone singing along to all of his songs during the party, while Vryheid’s Danceology got everyone up and dancing with their line dance routines.

Viniksha Maharaj, the event’s MC, had the audience in stitches with her jokes, but also encouraged the women in attendance to use similar platforms to speak up about the challenges they encounter on a daily basis. Additionally, she launched the Dynamics Women’s Group and the host was Manie Maharaj.

“I host this event every year as a fund-raiser for Women’s Day and anyone who wants to join the club can contact me,” said Mrs Maharaj. She expressed gratitude to everyone who attended and supported her event.

“If it wasn’t for Maliga, my husband, my son, my daughter and my daughter-in-law, I could not have accomplished this on my own. I really appreciate you supporting me and assuring me that this event would be fantastic,” she concluded.
“The club’s concept is ‘A place you can always come to’ and with this group, we intend to hold additional gatherings where women can celebrate while also discussing important and urgent topics,” said Viniksha.
In addition, she said that anyone who needs someone to talk to is welcome to join the group, where they will support one and empower one another.

Dr Chukwu discussed women’s health and problems that affect females from a young age.
LN Spa owner Lihle Malinga discussed the importance of self-care for women’s wellness.
“Remaining physically and mentally fit is important for our health, and it all forms part of self-care,” said Lihle. “As a survivor of depression, I know the importance of mental well-being.”
She added that in order to relieve the stress from our muscles, ladies need to take some time off, visit a spa and get massages. Wrapping up her remarks, she advised women to always talk to someone if they are feeling ‘under the weather’.
There was a solo dance performance, a play and poetry recitals as the evening came to a close.
All through the evening, lucky draws took place and everyone who took part received gifts.
