SAPS warn of ‘recruitment’ scam

"Officials from human resources will never demand payment from job candidates in order to secure them a position"

Job seekers are warned of a scam currently doing its rounds that tricks people into applying for police jobs at the South African Police Service (SAPS).
Scammers and fraudsters are using social media to solicit money from unsuspecting individuals while posing as representatives of the SAPS and promising to provide them employment.

Police spokesperson, Sgt Siyabonga Nkwanyana, reminded the public ‘not to put up with such behaviour from these strangers, and that they should also be aware that this is illegal for both the con artist and the victim of the scam (the person who pays for a so-called open position)’.

“Officials from human resources will never demand payment from job candidates in order to secure them a position. The right hiring procedures are always used”, explained Sgt Nkwanyana.
