Wasbank falls into disrepair and residents want answers

At night, none of the street lights burn; and the gutters are overgrown with grass and filled with debris, which means that flooding during heavy rains is a common occurrence.

They describe their village as the ‘forgotten corner’. And it is easy to see why. There are more goats than people moving around the wide, deserted streets of Wasbank and most of the shops are boarded up. One of two petrol stations in the town lies abandoned, with nature starting to reclaim its own.

Many of the roads are riddled with potholes and just accessing running water has been a challenge for residents, who say that for around three months, the town was without water following the failure of the pump station at Tayside and other ‘problems’.
