Water fountain gushes onto Victoria Street

The torrent of water is spilling on to the busy road making for hazardous driving conditions

Authorities have been alerted to a fountain of water shooting into the air on the corner of Victoria and Cornhill Streets adjacent to Ethangeni School.

It is not clear when the burst occurred. Water is gushing onto the busy intersection and motorists are warned to approach the area with caution.

It appears as if the water is coming out from a fire hydrant but the force of the water is such that no one has been able to get that close for fear of being drenched.

Parents are also worried about their young children who walk on the pavement to attend school.

Updates will be provided when these become available.
