Tourism Dundee contributes towards orphanage Christmas drive

Dundee Tourism’s Christmas drive effort saw nearly 40 bags and boxes of clothing; four bags of toys; and huge quantities of medical, food, and toiletries being donated to the Marie Ratschitz Mission orphanage near Wasbank.
Tourism chairperson Pam McFadden said the committee had taken a decision that ‘where there are community initiatives at sites that are tourism destinations in our area, we would consider supporting certain projects that would be aligned to the promotion of tourism’.
The Courier supported the effort through widespread publicity and Pam said the response from the community ‘was overwhelming’.
“Members of the committee and friends of Dundee Tourism who were involved in the project are to be commended for their efforts, as well as the numerous donors who have been so generous.”
Other projects that have been approved are to sponsor the Rorke’s Drift memorial football match on January 23.
Dundee Tourism has done this on a number of occasions in previous years.
