Lifestyle event for ladies comes to Vryheid

“This is the day where you ‘rock’ yourself in your way, without any judgements and fear of others’ expectations; it is a day of fun for ladies.”

It was a beautiful day on Sunday when women gathered at the Cecil Emmet Hall for the first-ever ‘Doek on Fleek Lifestyle’ event in Vryheid.
The ladies enjoyed the day under their umbrellas and gazebos that provided welcome shade, as the sun was blazing-hot. The theme of the day was ‘all white with a touch of pink’.
The event took the form of a picnic that saw trading stalls and ladies enjoying their snacks and drinks.
Nomthandazo ‘Thandi’ Mavata is the founder of ‘Doek on Fleek Lifestyle’ and works alongside her sister, Cleo Mavata, who mentioned that this is an event where ladies get to be themselves, socialise and empower one another. “This is the day where you ‘rock’ yourself in your way, without any judgements and fear of others’ expectations; it is a day of fun for ladies.”
It all started with a prayer, followed by live performances. The attendees enjoyed themselves dancing and singing along to music by Nomfundo Moh, Mcebo and local artists. Aphiwe on the Mic entertained the crowd with her dance moves on stage.
One of the organisers, Cucu, conveyed gratitude to the founders of the event, AbaQulusi Local Municipality, his planning team and the people who bought tickets.
