Local business founder needs your vote to win

''The mere fact that I have been nominated in the FOYA Awards is a win to me.”

Local man Ricardo Mazwi Mthethwa has been nominated in the FOYA (Founder of the Year) Awards in the ‘Most Promising Founder of the Year’ category. He is the founder and CEO of a company called Igxaba Lembadada Marketing Agency, which was named after his father.
The FOYA Awards recognise and appreciate young business founders who contribute to the development of the African continent.

Referring to himself as ‘the master of ceremonies’, Ricardo was born and bred in Vryheid. He explained that he organises and promotes different types of events, and that he started falling in love with organising when he was still at Vryheid High School. He went on to study at the University of Johannesburg to pursue the ‘love’ he had found.
He further explained that when the idea of starting ‘Igxaba Lembadada’ struck him, it was only intended to be a side project, as he is a police officer by profession. “When I was young, I just registered a company, but I had no idea what that business was going to be or do. My colleagues would speak of how it’s important to have something one does as a ‘side hustle’ to generate more income, so I spoke to DJ Thulas, who is an entertainment manager at 3105. He is one of the many people who believed in my idea to do digital marketing for different businesses and he pushed me until I did it.”

Ricardo mentioned that the company only started operating in February this year, working alongside Lindokuhle Mdlalose. ‘’I cannot believe that my baby is not even a year old and the response it has been getting is amazing. To be approached by these huge businesses and people like Sabelo Felix Nkuna, who works with SAFA and Bafana Bafana, has to be the highlight of my year. I keep on saying, ‘God, if I am dreaming, please wake me up so I can start living my dream and win or not win’. The mere fact that I have been nominated in the FOYA Awards is a win to me.”
Ricardo is now pleading with the community to vote for him so that he can bring the award back home. The voting has officially started and you can use the link (https://foya.africa/vote/42BPBQDL) to follow the voting steps. Ricardo can be contacted on 065 568 7120.
