Councillor encourages the community to do some cleaning up

“We cannot wait for the municipality to do things for us, as it serves the other 23 wards as well. We cannot stay on ‘dirt status’ when we can do something as a community.''

A 10-day clean-up campaign has been implemented by Ward 6 Councillor Bheki Mdlalose in the Coronation area. This initiative started on Monday, when 20 volunteers came forward and started cleaning up their place of residence. Cllr Mdlalose says that community members are welcome to join this campaign and help in any way they wish. He further explained that, “We cannot wait for the municipality to do things for us, as it serves the other 23 wards as well. We cannot stay on ‘dirt status’ when we can do something as a community. We are working closely with stakeholders from the mine in Coronation, as they assist us with different things we might need for the clean-up. ”The meeting point is the municipal offices at 08:00 in Coronation.
