Senior citizens celebrate one another after retirement

They recently threw a joint party as a sign of unity among them. Group founder / chairperson Ms Zine Mazibuko said that her aim was to unify retired professionals and ‘lift them up’ in order to remain professional in all aspects of life.

Sibongumusa (which translates to ‘God’s grace’) is a group of professional elderly residents in the Vryheid area that seeks to bring together all senior citizens from different professions.

They recently threw a joint party as a sign of unity among them. Group founder / chairperson Ms Zine Mazibuko said that her aim was to unify retired professionals and ‘lift them up’ in order to remain professional in all aspects of life. The hymn ‘Nkosi ngiyabela wena inhliziyo’ was sung, followed by a short sermon where they read from the book of Exodus 20:13 – ‘’Thou shalt not kill’’. With this in mind, she said there are different ways of killing a person, whether physically, emotionally, spiritually or mentally. She reminded the participants that God is the giver of life and a person is in the image of God, which means you are killing God Himself. “Once done, it cannot be reversed,” she warned.

Mazibuko concluded by requesting everyone to do some introspection and go back to God to seek forgiveness. Mrs Agretta Mdluli added that they should all be grateful for the Word of God, and wished the senior citizens in the group endless happiness and many more prosperous years.
