Lizzy Arumugam of the Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Department said the woman managed to escape after the suspect threatened her with a firearm and told her he would ‘bury her’
“Acting on information, a joint operation was launched by the Newcastle K9 Unit, Newcastle Station CPF, Optimus Protection Services, and the Anti-Hijacking Unit,” she said.
On September 6, he was arrested and charged.
He appeared before the Newcastle Magistrate Court on September 9.
