Women’s organisation showers elderly citizens with love

Women Manyano former general president Mrs Gwala then gave a speech in which she assured the old age home residents that, as the church, they are always with them in prayer.

On National Senior Citizens’ Day, an organisation called ‘Women Manyano’ visited an old age home in Afrikaner Street. Dr TP Nkosi shared that, “We understand that in their early years, the elderly citizens used to go to Thursday prayers and to church on Sundays. We understand that they have contributed much in spreading the gospel throughout the world and they have achieved much for the community and our country. As an organisation, we take the church to old age home residents.”
A service was held, opened by local preacher Mrs Zitha. She read a scripture from 1 John 4:11 that read: ‘Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.’ She indicated that we must not love one another because of material things, but we must love one another in spite of weakness. Women Manyano former general president Mrs Gwala then gave a speech in which she assured the old age home residents that, as the church, they are always with them in prayer. She quoted Acts 16:28: ‘Do not harm yourselves – we are all here.’
All the oldies received gift packs with snacks. A vote of thanks was delivered by Miss Ndaba from the home, who said, “We feel so special when we see people visiting our home, because many residents are not visited by their families.”
