Newcastle crime fighters apprehend armed robber in the cbd

In a well-coordinated sting operation, local law enforcement successfully caught and arrested a suspect who had been terrorising and robbing people in the open field between Scott and Kirkland Streets.

According to Imran Ghafoor of the Newcastle Crime Fighter’s Task Team (CCPA), they received information pertaining to the suspect’s illegal activities, which prompted urgent intervention.

“The team quickly gathered intelligence and kept observation on the suspect, who was spotted in possession of what looked like a firearm. After assessing the situation, we requested backup from all the relevant authorities to arrest the suspect,” he said.

The firearm was also confiscated, and after thorough investigation, it was determined that it was indeed in a gas pistol. The suspect was charged with attempted robbery and pointing of a firearm.

Ghafoor further wished to thank all units involved, which included the Amajuba District Drug Unit, Traffic Officer Moolman, Barnard Security’s Marius, Ithemba Security Services, AfriForum, and Ressec Security Services.

“Thank you!”
