Emadlangeni launches Vaalbank road construction project

The Emadlangeni municipality has again stepped up development with the launch of a road construction project in the Vaalbank area.

The project will serve and benefit residents of Ward 3 and Ward 5.

The Emadlangeni municipality said this much-needed road will bring access to services and an improved road network for transport to the Vaalbank community.

“The project will focus on gravelling approximately 1 km of road in Ward 3 and 1 km of road in Ward 5.  These roads were previously damaged by disastrous flooding events, and the project will restore and improve their condition once again.”

The road construction work will be carried out by two different companies: Jumbo Holdings will handle the Ward 5 road, while the Ward 3 road will be tackled by another contractor.

The municipality further confirmed that both companies have committed to hiring local community members as part of this project.

“Working for the people is our top priority,” said Emadlangeni Mayor Cllr ML Buthelezi. “Despite tight budget constraints, we have worked hard to secure the necessary funding to develop our communities and better the lives of our residents.”

The mayor also cautioned the community against allowing disruptive outside elements to undermine the success of this community development initiative.

Additionally, he acknowledged the ongoing water shortage issues faced by the Vaalbank community and stated that the municipality is in communication with the Amajuba District to find solutions to improve service delivery.

The Emadlangeni Municipality is constructing these roads following the disastrous floods that damaged road infrastructure in the municipality.

“We are committed to driving progress and addressing service delivery needs of the community through this and other development initiatives. The municipality looks forward to the successful completion of these road construction projects in Vaalbank and Lens roads in Ward 3 and Ward 5 respectively,” concluded Mayor Buthelezi.
