Several police raids were carried out in selected areas in town.
A convoy of plus minus 20 police vehicles descended on the Forbes Street Taxi Rank with police officers carrying out multidisciplinary operations including anti drug and weapons searches.
Police from other towns and outside units were also involved in the raids.
A short while later they raided a premise in the Gaza Meena Place area.
