A shack fire left a family devastated after their backroom shack which served as their home was gutted by fire.
The fire broke out on Wednesday night at Verbena Crescent, and the two roomed shacked was totally destroyed.
Two brothers (adults) who lived in the shack lost everything as nothing could be saved.

According to Ward 20, Cllr Abbas Warasaly they are not certain about the cause of the fire but they suspect that a fridge might have exploded. “I was told that the fridge was repaired recently and it was re–gassed. Something might have gone wrong during the repairs and that is why the fridge exploded.“
He has appealed to the community of Ladysmith to donate necessities as the two brothers have lost all their belongings. “The Alfred Duma Disaster management team had responded and they will be helping wherever they can. But we appeal to the community to also lend a helping hand,” said Warasally.
