KZN elects new leadership

Yesterday (June 18) saw the IFP's Thami Ntuli take the oath of office as Premier of Kwazulu-Natal and introduce his cabinet.

Politicians from different political parties descended on Woodburn Stadium in Pietermaritzburg ahead of the KZN Premier’s Inauguration yesterday (June 18).

Ntuli was elected premier after his party, the IFP, reached an agreement to collectively govern KZN with the ANC, DA and NFP.

Taking to the podium, Ntuli said :“This government I am honoured to lead stands on the cusp of a new beginning. Collectively, we’ll deliver on the hope and revival that the people of this province so desperately require.

“Today we enter a pivotal new period of rebuilding our province that will require all of us to have clear minds while displaying visionary and committed leadership. I wish to assure you that we will always keep our promise that we are your servants,” he concluded.

Ntuli announced his cabinet, which is as follows:

1. Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs –Musa Keith Zondi, MPL.
2. Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) – Thulasizwe Dominic Buthelezi, MPL
3. Health –Ms Nomagugu Simelane, MPL
4. Social Development –Mbali Cynthia Chinga, MPL
5. Public Works and Infrastructure –Mr Lukas Marthinus Meyer, MPL
6. Finance – Mr Francoise Adrianus Rodgers, MPL
7. Agriculture and Rural Development –Mrs Thembeni Petty kaMadlopha-Mthethwa, MPL
8. Transport and Human Settlements – Siboniso Amstrong Duma, MPL
9. Education – Siphosihle Emmanuel Hlomuka, MPL
10. Sports, Arts and Culture – Mntomuhle Khawula, MPL
