Crèche signals a boost for early education in Dannhauser

Jubilation was most certainly the order of the day when Dannhauser saw the opening of the modern Siphuthando Crèche.

Early childhood education in Dannhauser received a boost with the opening last week of the modern Siphuthando Crèche in Ward 1.

Dannhauser Mayor, Cllr Bongani Radebe, cut the ribbon to declare the crèche officially open, accompanied by Ward 1 Councillor, Cllr M.S Mkhumane, who is also Chief Whip of Council.

Khwezilokusa Hlongwane, Dannhauser Municipality’s communication officer, said the Dannhauser municipality built the crèche to ‘ensure a shared vision between the national and local governments of a good foundation for all children in the country.’

In his speech, Mayor Radebe emphasised that research showed that children who participate in quality early childhood development (ECD) programmes from an early age were more ready to learn when they began school and were less likely to repeat grades or drop out of school.

Parents and community members gathered to witness the handover of their children’s new play and educational area.

Municipal Manager, Mr. M.S. Sithole, urged the community to work hand in hand with the Dannhauser SAPS to keep the infrastructure safe.

In his speech, Cllr. Mkhumane mentioned that children in the Dannhauser were now equipped with a quality foundation phase education to ensure that they have a chance at a better life.

The new Siphuthando Crèche is fully functional, with running water, classrooms, playrooms, and teacher’s offices with furniture, a fully equipped kitchen, a playground with swings, and educational toys to unlock their minds and encourage them to engage in various educational and social activities.

Jubilation was most certainly the order of the day!
