Newcastle Lions bring Christmas joy to La Gratitude residents with Santa’s Shoe Box

The Newcastle Lions Club spoiled the residents of La Gratitude Old Age Home with gifts galore as they celebrated the festive season over a delicious lunch.

The Newcastle Lions Club, together with various other entities, including the Ladies Circle and Ncandu Round Table, ensured that La Gratitude residents were treated to a very special Christmas this year through the hosting of their annual Santa’s Shoe Box initiative.

Local artist, Belinda Ellor kept the ‘guests of honour’ entertained with golden oldies, allowing them to reminisce about the ‘good old days, while the Lions ladies took them for a ‘spin’ around the dance floor.

Placed around a beautifully decorated Christmas tree were dozens of gift bags placed each filled with much-needed items and surprise goodies especially put together for the residents of the old age home.

Residents were also treated to a delicious lunch while enjoying the festive spirit for the remainder of the day.

“The Newcastle Lions Ladies thank everyone who helped make La Gratitude’s Christmas so extraordinarily special. They are so grateful to have spent the morning with us and to have received such lovely, thoughtful gifts. Thank you to the sponsors for all the donations, sponsorships, and support. We (the Newcastle Lions) and La Gratitude are immensely grateful. We will start collecting and getting ready for next year’s event in February. If you would like to be a part of their big day, please get in touch,” they concluded.
