Donate your blood this coming Thursday

Blood stock levels are fast decreasing, and the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) is appealing for donors to help.

Make the monthly bleed next Thursday, November 30 as the South African National Blood Service  (SANBS) hosts a blood donor clinic.

Stop at the Boulevard Centre anytime between 10am and 4pm to donate your life-saving blood.

The last blood clinic for the month will be at the Glencoe Town Hall from 1pm to 6pm.

You can donate blood if:
*You are between the ages of 16 and 75 years old (for first-time donors) you weigh a minimum of 50 kilograms (a minimum of 55kg for platelet donors)
* You are in good health;
*You lead a low-risk lifestyle
* You consider your blood safe for transfusion
*You have had a balanced meal within four hours of donating blood
*You have not donated blood in the past 56 days (14 days for platelet donors) and your pulse is between   50-100 regular beats per minute.

SANBS staff will also screen you beforehand to determine your hemoglobin levels and blood pressure. Isn’t it time you became a ‘hero’.
