Dundee Country Club’s ladies host first PGA golf competition

Well done to Dion Sadaw and his team on their fine performance for 2023.

On Saturday, the Dundee Country Club ladies’ section hosted their first PGA competition to raise money for the annual Ladies’ Inter-Club to be held on the South Coast in November.
36 players participated and each chose a professional golfer’s name on this fun day, with a format of IPS Stableford.
The ladies’ section would like to thank OK Value Supermarket’s Vlooi and Lorain for their sponsorship of the day.
The winners were: first – Dr Sifiso Kunene (Davis Love); second – Dan Scholtz (Gary Player); third – Kevin Donaldson (Kevin Na); and fourth – Selo Ndlovu (Tony Fiwau). Novelty prizes: men’s longest drive – Anwar Khan; ladies’ longest drive – Vlooi Slabbert. Nearest the pins: no. 8 – Selo Ndlovu; no. 16 – Kallie Roets. Most Golf – Lorain deWit.
The Kilbarchan Open Championships were played on Sunday.
Four players from Dundee Country Club participated over 36 holes.
Veteran golfer Jo Khumalo took the honours in a tight finish and also scored the perfect fluke hole-in-one on the 17th hole to win by one shot with a gross score of 147.
Dr Sifiso Kunene was third on 149 gross, with Bruce Marx in fourth on 151 gross. Mason Meyer was also on 151 (Northern Natal League). The B2 team travelled to Ladysmith to play against the host team on Sunday in the final round of the handicap league and were narrowly beaten by Ladysmith by seven points to five to be runners-up for this year.
