Park United emerges victorious in RBCA Chartered Accountant Super League clash

Soccer fans were treated to three heart-pounding matches at the Fernwood Sports ground this past Sunday.

Munawarah and Legends FC kicked off a fantastic weekend in the RBCA Chartered Accountant Super League as things started to heat up. Due to injuries, Legends FC is now forced to use their left back as a goalkeeper.

Munawarah profited on the weakness of the Legends team. Legends were unable to organise an attack because all they did was try to advance their objective. Late in the first half, Munawarah scored the winning goal.

The second matchup pitted Spartans against Fairleigh United. Fairleigh United is a group that gets better every time they play. Spartans, who were hoping to win, were taken aback by Fairleigh United’s strategy. Spartans made several outstanding saves in goal to keep the score tied when Fairleigh United should have seized the lead.

Professor Brown, the major talisman of the Spartans, had a golden opportunity to give Spartan the lead as well, but his header just missed the crossbar and went out of play. Spartans had a penalty appeal that appeared to be successful in the second half, but the referee had another interpretation.The game ended in a goalless draw.

Getting their first point of the year, Fairleigh United earns a point in the RBCA Chartered Accountant Super League. Park United played Zim Stars in the championship contest. It was goal for goal in an extremely tense game. Ten minutes into the game, Park United scored the first goal.

Zim Stars pushed for a goal and where duly awarded to level the scores 5 minutes into the second half. There after it was open soccer as Zim stars took the lead for 2 minutes for Park United to make it 2 – 2.

Park United won the match with ten minutes remaining.

Despite being upset with his team, Zim Stars coach Desmond promised his team will return the following week to challenge.

The RBCA Chartered Accountant Super League will continue this coming weekend the 01 October 2023 at the Fernwood soccer grounds.
