Communications minister apologises to grant beneficiaries

Gungubele assured South Africans that the problem has been corrected and pensioners have been able to access their money

In a media briefing with Minister of Social Development Lindiwe Zulu yesterday (September 14), Minister of Communications & Digital Technologies Mondli Gungubele apologised to grant recipients who get their grants at Post Bank.

This after thousands of pensioners and those living with disabilities, including people living in Estcourt, could not access their grants recently.

Explaining what prevented the beneficiaries from accessing their money, Gungubele said the delays were caused by technical glitches from a systems upgrade the bank is introducing to get better service.

Gungubele said this problem affected more than 600,000 people, but the problem is now resolved.
