Pre-schoolers celebrate Women’s Day with the elderly

Newcastle ECD learners celebrated Women's Day by spending time with the residents of La'Gratitude home for the aged.

In a touching story of community, the grade R learners of The Newcastle Early Childhood Development Centre celebrated Women’s Day with a march, eventually ending up with a wonderful visit with the residents at La Gratitude Home for the aged on Friday (August 11).

They were greeted warmly by the staff and residents of the home, after which the children sang and danced while senior citizens cheered and sang along.

To round off the special day, the children received cookies baked specially by class teacher Mrs Nel.

“What a memorable moment!” she exclaimed.”  We were welcomed with so much love and the kids really cheered up the senior citizens with their sweet voices.”
