Senior citizens celebrate Women’s Month

The aim of the event was to empower women and talk about the things that affect them in their daily lives.

As we are still in the spirit of Women’s Month, the ladies from an NPO called Sibongumusa Senior Citizens (SSC) got together over the weekend to celebrate their month.
The aim of the event was to empower women and talk about the things that affect them in their daily lives.
Mandisa Ntuli from the Salvation Army opened the proceedings with the Word of God and read a scripture from Genesis 16:1-14: ‘The God who sees me’.
Zine Mazibuko, who is the founder and chairperson of SSC, welcomed all the guests and outlined the purpose of the day, as well as the purpose of the NPO.
The Office of the KZN Premier was represented by Dr Fikile Ndlovu, who was impressed by the initiative that aimed to touch the lives of needy school-going children, as well as Inkululeko Children’s Home. She emphasised that this effort does not go unnoticed by their office, since this is one of their prerogatives. Ndlovu gave a rundown of the history and importance of Women’s Day, and encouraged women to continue fighting for their rights. She then handed over gifts to senior citizens from the Premier’s Office.
Sindy Manyathi delivered the keynote address, which was taken from the book of Psalms 92: 12-14: ‘We are planted in the house of the Lord and expected to flourish’. The women said it was a powerful, well-planned presentation on the role of a woman in this world.
Xolani Njibs Mhlongo and The Male Voices from Empangeni and Vryheid graced the occasion with their presence. Both their renditions were powerful and thoroughly enjoyed.
The vote of thanks was done by Sonto Mtshali, who expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the day. She praised the hard work that went into the planning and execution.
Reverend Ngubane pronounced the benediction.
