Rhinos dominate Super Hero wrestling challenge

Seven clubs were represented, namely Ermelo, Amersvoort, Volksrust, Richards Bay, Vryheid, Newcastle Cougars and the Rhinos.

The Northern KZN Rhino wrestling club dominated the Orange Grove KZN Super Hero Challenge they hosted in Glencoe on Saturday, with all of their 28 wrestlers earning themselves the Spiderman-styled medals.
Seven clubs were represented, namely Ermelo, Amersvoort, Volksrust, Richards Bay, Vryheid, Newcastle Cougars and the Rhinos.
Local fans who packed the Glencoe Primary School hall were not disappointed by the action on the mat.
The competitive Rhinos fought with passion and determination, and stood out with a dominating display of high-quality wrestling.
“Orange Grove and KZN Wrestling worked together to create this unique event,” said coach Steven Brown.
“Each competitor had four full fights to qualify for a medal. The idea was to give the wrestlers the maximum mat time to help them prepare for the National Championships later this year.
“Orange Grove spoiled the wrestlers by handing out drinks and juices to the participants.
“The medals, also sponsored by Orange Grove, created a buzz among the young fighters.”
Five-year-old HJ van Zuydam wrestled like an old hand and was named ‘Rhino Wrestler of the Day’.
The following Rhino team members were awarded medals:
Christopher du Preez, Brian Slabbert, JC Botha, Keagen Kruger, Siyamthanda Buthelezi, Siyamthanda Zulu, Terischka Basson, Ruben Eloff, Lianie du Preez, Alex Jansen, Mpho Makautse, Lolla Stoltz, Shaun Stoltz, Gumpy Venter, Liam Schonken, Tion Brown, Ruan Eloff, Michael Minne, Hunter du Plooy, Daylen du Plooy, Aiden Slabbert, HJ van Zuydam, Sussie Makautse, Jayden Fritz, GJ Erasmus, Snako Buthelezi, Luthu Mthembu, Apelele Madise and Njabulo Mtshali.
