Mandela Day inspires local paramedic crew

Team from KwaZulu Private Ambulance Services took this initiative to heart and offered their services to the Vryheid Animal Welfare Society (VAWS).

The Mandela Day campaign encourages people to use 67 minutes of their time to support a chosen charity or serve in their local community.
Frikkie Bekker and his team from KwaZulu Private Ambulance Services took this initiative to heart and offered their services to the Vryheid Animal Welfare Society (VAWS).
Bekker says that they had a choice to either do a clean-up at Pick n Pay, or have a health drive but since they deal daily with death and horrific situations, they decided to spend their 67 minutes in the cattery at VAWS.
After a quick course on the do’s and don’ts, they rolled up their sleeves and did the dirty work by cleaning out the cattery cages. Bekker said that he and the team enjoyed the experience and that they will definitely go back again to help out.
