Planned water shutdown in Ladysmith

Water shutdown is set to start today at 17:00 and come back tomorrow at 5:00

uThukela District Municipality has issued a statement informing the community of Alfred Duma Local Municipality that they will shut down the water supply from 17:00 today (July 27) and commence supply at 05:00 tomorrow morning (July 28).

 

Load shedding from Eskom has negatively affected the efficiency of the raw water pumps at Spioenkop Dam. As a result, bulk water levels have dropped, constituting water supply interruptions.

The municipality has planned to reduce pumping volumes from the Ladysmith purification plant and interrupt water supply to the golf course area reservoir. This will assist to build up water levels for efficient bulk water supply.

The following areas will be negatively affected by water interruptions:-

Van Riebeeck Park

Golf course area

Observation Hill

Observation Park

Egerton area

Steadville

Hyde Park
