Emadlangeni municipality mayor visits the bereaved Myeni family
The Mayor passed his condolences on behalf of the Utrecht community and further engaged the family on preparations for the repatriation of her body back home for the funeral.
Mayor of Emadlangeni Cllr Mzwakhe Buthelezi, paid his respects to the Myeni family following the death of Snegugu Myeni, an aspiring doctor who died in the Phillipines on July 10.
“We have lost yet another life that had the potential to be a shining star in the medical fraternity and a positive role model for children in our community.We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to her mother, Lindiwe Myeni, and her entire family, as well as her friends and colleagues in the Philippines,” said Buthelezi.
“We do not want to make unnecessary assumptions about what happened that led to her death, but we hope and trust that all relevant departments will assist the family in determining the true cause of her death. As a government closer to the people, our task since the tragedy struck has been to assist and connect them with relevant authorities where necessary, and to assist the family within our limitations,” he concluded.
Lindiwe Myeni has expressed gratitude to the various government departments that have stepped forward to assist them. “The Office of the Premier KZN under Nomusa Dube-Ncube has been in contact with our family and has offered assistance,” she says in a video.
“We are extremely grateful and wish to express our gratitude.”
