Flames engulf historic Newcastle building

It's believed that vagrants occupy the building, which could have possibly led to the fire.

A fierce fire this evening engulfed an historic building on Harding Street that was previously the Masonic Lodge.

When the building was vacated by the Masons it was used by a church before it was left abandoned

All emergency services are currently at the scene busy extinguishing the flames.

It’s believed that vagrants occupy the building, which could have possibly led to the fire.

The exact cause of the fire is however not known at this stage and will be subjected to further investigation.
