Racers get fast and furious the Newcastle Oval Track

The second oval track meeting of the year took place at the Newcastle Oval Track on Saturday, with an enthusiastic crowd, many of whom had traveled from out of town to witness the high-speed action.

Again, the ladies ensured that the flag for the fairer sex was flown and wowed spectators with some fantastic racing.

Results were as follows:

• 1660: Mikey Maloney (1^st), Stephan van der Merwe (2^nd) and Mynhardt Myburgh (3^rd).
• Hotrods: Hendrik van der Merwe (1^st), Marthinus van Rooyen (2^nd) and Theunis Corver (3^rd).
• Stockrods: Jan Delport (1^st), Ruaan Labuschagne (2^nd) and Shaun Teasdale (3^rd).
• 2.1: Aslam Khan (1^st), Wilmien van Rooyen (2^nd) and Mohammed Khan (3^rd).

The next race will take place on April 1.
