Newcastle’s Tik Tok doctor sets tongues wagging on social media

Newcastle has recently been trending in the news, thanks to Tik Tok sensation Dr Sandile Qwabe, who has captured the hearts of South Africans

Dr Qwabe, a doctor at Madadeni Hospital, captured the attention of South Africans on Tik Tok with his amusing and entertaining videos, some of which showed him smoking and dancing to loud music at the hospital.

His videos have drawn some criticism for his dress code, smoking, and workplace behaviour, with some even threatening to report him for ‘unprofessional conduct.’

Many people have come to the beloved doctor’s defence and praised him for his cheerful demeanour in such a stressful profession:

Twitter user @NombusotheEmpr1:  This guy enjoys his job. There’s nothing worse than being treated by an unfriendly doctor. When you’re physically ill, your mind needs comfort &surety…apparently Dr Qwabe makes you look forward to go back to your check-up. I saw great testimonies about him. God bless this man”

The Health Professions Council of South Africa has stated that they have received no official complaints and that Dr. Qwabe’s videos have no bearing on his professional life.
