Local police reflect on a recent spate of murders

According to police officials at the scene, the deceased was found with multiple stab wounds to his body.

Newcastle and Osizweni detectives have been extremely busy over the past two weeks following a string of murders reported between the two policing areas.

The first reported murder occurred on Friday, February 24, when a Newcastle father shot and killed his son before turning the gun on himself.

In the process, he shot and seriously injured his wife, who is now recovering in a nearby hospital.

Police were called to Jakkalspan around 03:00 on Saturday, February 25.

Here, police discovered that one person had died as a result of two stab wounds to the chest.

The suspect was later apprehended by police and charged with murder.

Later that day, around 13:00, a third murder occurred in Osizweni.

Police responded to a call for assistance after a mother and her young son were murdered in Section A.

Both victims were found with open wounds on their heads, and an axe believed to be the murder weapon was discovered in the room.

A fourth murder was reported on Sunday, February 26, at around 20:00 at the Manzana Bridge near Khuzani.

According to police officials at the scene, the deceased was found with multiple stab wounds to his body.

The motive for all four murders is still being investigated
