Multiple people left displaced once again

Ashok Anandhaw, Chief of Community Safety, said emergency services helped evacuate around 50 residents:

Last night’s downpours have once again left multiple residents displaced and seeking temporary shelter.

Ashok Anandhaw, Chief of Community Safety, said emergency services helped evacuate around 50 residents, after rising water levels left lower Paradise/Fernwood flooded for the third time this week

“Paradise Stadium (sport’s grounds) is currently being used as a temporary shelter for the displaced victims, where the community and CPF are helping with relief material,” he said

People are advised to avoid the following areas:
Umfolozi (Amcor) Road
Trico Street
Finnemore Street
Kirkland and Sutherland Streets (Newcastle Taxi Rank)

A make shift tent has been erected on Trico Street, while residents wait for the water to subside.

Residents are again urged to avoid visiting flooded areas as it interferes with emergency services trying to assist those in need.
