The Newcastle community is in shock after news about the murder of one of their own has been trending on social media.
Ntokozo Mayenzi Xaba (20) was found stabbed to death at her campus residence in Pretoria on Thursday (February 2).
Xaba was a third year TUT student and a former Newcastle High school alumnus.
It is alleged that she had been out with friends on Wednesday February 2,afterwhich she supposedly left with her boyfriend.
According to police spokesperson,Colonel Dimakatso Sello, the victim was found with stab wounds on Thursday morning.
The boyfriend, who is also allegedly from Newcastle, has since been taken into police custody for questioning.
Investigations into her death continue.
