Local poet wins award in Cape Town

‘’I am very humbled by the love and support of all your votes; you made it possible. From talent search contest to best poet award, thank you so much. May God bless you!’’

Lindokuhle Manda, better known by his stage name ‘Manda Da Poet’, ended 2022 on a high note when he attended the Ukhonukamva National Gospel Music Awards in Cape Town and won an award in the ‘Best Poet’ category.

Manda explains that he entered the talent search competition where people had to vote for him in order to win the award among fellow poets. ‘’I am very humbled by the love and support of all your votes; you made it possible. From talent search contest to best poet award, thank you so much. May God bless you!’’

He says this was one of his best experiences, as this will boost his profile as a poet who still wants to make it big. Manda has released a poetry bundle book with 30 poems under the title ‘A Hunting Soul’, written in English. His future plans include his first drama book. He is writing this book both in English and IsiZulu about forgiveness, being patient with life, and the different life experiences people come across.

In March, he will be shooting his live audio recording poem called ‘Ukufika Kwami Kuye’ in Cape Town.
