The NFWAA season will resume after the holidays with the fourth round of the league.

The most recent match was the knockout semi-finals, which were held at Richgate Park.

Chelmsford faced off against arch-rivals Itec Freespool in zone 4, while Docrats faced Ladysmith in zone 2.

The torrential rain exacerbated the already poor state of the roads, but it did not dampen the spirits of the eager anglers. It turned out to be a mediocre day of fishing, but the end results were predictable.

Ladysmith maintained their strong form, defeating Docrats by a score of 53 to 15. Chelmsford made a valiant effort to unseat Itec Freespool, but was defeated by a score of 71 to 56.

Tim Barret of Itec Freespool, a senior angler, caught an 8.23kg barbel and won an outright trophy and R200 cash prize from Zamamena Construction.

This catch will undoubtedly be considered for the non-scaled catch of the season.

The day’s heaviest carp was a 3.62kg specimen caught by Chelmsford’s Shervin Ramadu, who also received an outright trophy and a cash prize.

The knockout final will be played on February 26 between Ladysmith and Itec Freespool.
